QAM™ is the core operating framework behind our programs and sessions. It integrates what neuroscience, somatic practice, sound research, and ancient healing systems have long understood: that lasting change happens when we work with the nervous system first — not around it.

Rather than teaching people about regulation in the abstract, QAM™ creates the conditions for the nervous system to shift directly. Participants don't just gain insight — they build embodied capacity for new ways of responding to stress, emotion, challenge, and change.

Polyvagal Theory

Dr. Stephen Porges' Polyvagal Theory established that the autonomic nervous system operates through three distinct circuits — not two — and that our capacity for social engagement, safety, and regulation depends on which circuit is active. QAM™ uses Polyvagal principles to help participants recognize which state they are in, and to reliably shift toward ventral vagal regulation.

Neuroplasticity & Repatterning

The brain retains its capacity for structural change across the lifespan. QAM™ leverages what neuroscience calls Hebbian learning — 'neurons that fire together, wire together' — to deliberately build new neural pathways. Through repetition of regulated states, participants strengthen the circuits that support emotional resilience, executive function, and adaptive response.

Biofield Science & Sound Repatterning

Drawing on Eileen McKusick's Biofield Tuning research and John Beaulieu's BioSonic Repatterning™, QAM™ incorporates sound as a direct regulatory input. TCM Five Element Constitutional Theory

Traditional Chinese Medicine identifies five constitutional types — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water — each with characteristic nervous system patterns, emotional tendencies, and physiological vulnerabilities. QAM™ uses the Five Element framework as a clinical lens for identifying an individual's baseline regulatory profile and designing targeted intervention pathways accordingly.

Jungian Psychology & Pattern Awareness

Carl Jung's framework of the unconscious, shadow integration, and archetypal pattern recognition provides QAM™ with its depth psychological layer. Many dysregulation patterns are rooted not in current circumstance but in internalized psychological structures. QAM™ uses Jungian-informed reflection tools to surface and consciously redirect these patterns — without requiring years of traditional analysis.

Gratitude as a Neurological Practice

Gratitude practice is often presented as aspirational. QAM™ treats it as a clinical tool. Research in positive neuroscience demonstrates that deliberately sustained gratitude activates the prefrontal cortex, increases dopamine and serotonin production, and reduces cortisol. Used consistently, it is one of the most accessible and evidence-supported methods for shifting baseline nervous system tone.

Wayfinders™

An age-appropriate application of QAM™ for teens aged 11–18, using gamified learning structures and the "Helmspace" navigation metaphor to teach self-awareness, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and inner resilience. Delivered in facilitator-led or family-supported formats.

ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

Developed by clinicians. Grounded in practice.

QAM™ was co-developed by Karen and Cathy — two sisters whose combined work spans clinical psychology, physical therapy, integrative medicine, sound therapy, and transformational facilitation. QAM™ is not a modality they studied. It is a framework they built through years of applied clinical work, synthesizing what actually produced lasting change for patients and participants across diverse populations. It is the operating system underlying every program and session offered through Well in Montclair and Sound Risings.
